Press Release on Watauga County Sheriff's Deputies

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 29, 2021

Media contact Gadi Adelman gadi@backthebluenc.org The Watauga County Sheriff's Office, the community of Watauga County, and the law enforcement community as a whole suffered the ultimate tragedy yesterday when two Sheriff's Deputies, Sgt. Chris Ward and K-9 Officer Logan Fox were killed while answering a 'welfare check' call. Back the Blue NC, Inc. extends their thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies to the families of Fallen Officer Sgt. Chris Ward and Deputy Logan Fox. To keep with our mission of "Giving back to those who are willing to give their all" our Organization is raising donations for the family and children of Sgt. Chris Ward, as well as to the family and Fiancée of Deputy Logan Fox. In this moment of tragedy Back The Blue NC, Inc. stand by ready to support the families in honor of their ultimate sacrifice. At a 13-hour stand-off at a residence in Boone, NC on April 28, 2021 Sgt. Ward was shot by a barricaded suspect and unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries the same day after being air-lifted to a nearby hospital. He leaves behind a wife and two children ages 19 and 6. Deputy Logan Fox was also shot by the barricaded suspect and unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries the same day before his body could be retrieved from the residence. It is our intention to place funds raised into a trust fund for Sgt. Ward's children as we have previously done with fallen officers Deputy Hendrix and Deputy Allison and their respective children. The funds raised for Deputy Fox will be going to his family and Fiancée. Back The Blue NC is currently working with the Watauga County Sheriff's Office as well as the Boone Police Department in order to disperse the funds raised to their families. Currently we have two gofundme pages setup, one for each officer. https://gofund.me/bff157d2 and https://gofund.me/229363bc Back The Blue NC, Inc. is a non-profit 501-C3 organization that operates with an all-volunteer staff with 100 percent of all proceeds and donations going back to the law enforcement community. Back The Blue NC will continue to raise funds for future law enforcement needs throughout the State in the future. Donations can be at made anytime online on the Back The Blue NC website homepage: https://backthebluenc.org
